Guideline for trucks
A truck toll is applied in the form of the HGV* Road User Levy (a time-based vignette) for the use of all public roads in the United Kingdom. Foreign trucks from 12t permissible total weight are subject to the levy.
The level of the levy is determined by:
- Type of vehicle**
- Total weight and
- Axle configuration.
The levy must be paid BEFORE entry to the United Kingdom. In addition, the M6toll (PDF) can be settled quickly and easily using your DKV CARD.
*HGV = Heavy goods vehicle (“truck”)
** Four sub-categories: Truck, truck with trailer over 4,000 kg, tractor with two axles, tractor with three or more axles
Registration
Online registration with the levy operator is required using the Internet – toll booking. At the terminals by entering the vehicle details and paying with the DKV CARD.

Payment
The DKV CARD can be used to purchase daily, weekly, monthly and annual vignettes.
Customers can choose between three ways of settling the time-based levy
- The levy can be quickly and easily settled online by registered and non-registered users directly through the charge operator’s online portal. After the desired vignette has been selected, the DKV CARD can be used to settle the charge completely electronically.
- The desired vignette can be selected and purchased on certain ferries prior to arrival in the UK.
- Settlement of the charge at points of sale (POS) outside the UK.
