Since 1 July 2026, a distance-based truck toll has been in force in the Netherlands for vehicles with a gross vehicle weight exceeding 3.5 tonnes. The toll applies to motorways, national roads, and most regional roads. Toll charges are calculated based on CO₂ emission rates, requiring vehicles to be assigned to the appropriate CO₂ class.

From this date, a Eurovignette will no longer be required for truck journeys in the Netherlands. Instead, tolls will be calculated based on the kilometres driven – simple, transparent and future-oriented.

For the processing of the distance-based toll, the DKV Box Europe is the ideal solution for international freight transport. For regional transport within Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands, the DKV Box Flex is the most suitable option.

The required CO₂ classification can easily be completed using the CO₂ Class Check in the DKV Cockpit.

In addition to the distance-based toll, separate tunnel tolls apply for the Blankenburg Tunnel and the Westerschelde Tunnel. These tunnel tolls are not part of the general toll network. A DKV CARD is required for payment of the tunnel tolls. Please note that the Blankenburg Tunnel cannot currently be settled via the DKV Box Europe.

The EU has set a goal to reduce CO₂ emissions in road transport by 30% by 2030 (compared to 2005). For this reason, the toll tariff classification ibeing expanded to include a CO₂ class.

Since 1 July 2026 , tolls in the Netherlands will be calculated based on the CO₂ class of your vehicle. This regulation applies to all vehicles with a gross vehicle weight exceeding 3.5 tonnes.

Customers with a DKV BOX Europe who have already uploaded supporting documents for another toll service in the DKV Cockpit do not need to submit these documents again.
