With the help of the emission class finder, customers can check which CO2 emission class the respective vehicle is assigned to.

From July 2023, customers will be able to apply for a change in the emission class per vehicle directly in the TC customer portal.

Customers who use the Toll2Go product for the toll service in Germany and Austria and whose vehicles have a CO2 emission class better than 1 must upload the evidence to the self-care portal of Toll Collect and ASFINAG.

The toll exemption for emission-free vehicles (e-trucks, hydrogen) over 4.25 t (GVW), which was originally limited to the end of 2025, will be extended until 30 June 2031 . Emission-free vehicles already registered as toll-exempt will automatically continue to be operated by Toll Collect until 31 December 2027 .

Emission-free vehicles up to 4.25 t (GVW) are permanently exempt from the toll. The subsidy for light and heavy commercial vehicles with alternative, climate-friendly drives and the associated refuelling and charging infrastructure is also to be extended until 2028. Buses for passenger transport are exempt from tolls in Germany until further notice.

The implementation of the draft law is based on the amended Eurovignette Directive, which came into force in March 2022.

The introduction of additional CO2 pricing in the truck toll is seen as another instrument of climate protection in road freight transport, as commercial vehicles currently produce around a third of total CO2 emissions in the transport sector. In this way, the German government wants to accelerate the switch to climate-neutral drives and send a signal that makes the use of trucks with alternative drives more attractive for the freight transport industry.

These toll revenues will be used for the improvement of the federal trunk road infrastructure as well as for measures in the mobility sector – the focus is on the federal railways. The additional revenue from the toll extension to trucks weighing 3.5 tonnes or more will amount to 3.9 billion euros in the same period. Of this, 1.8 billion euros are attributable to CO2 differentiation.

To register with Toll Collect for the first time, please fill out the following form "User Government". Please sign in a legally binding manner and send it to DKV Mobility. We will transmit your user registration to Toll Collect. You will keep a copy of it with you for your records.

The DKV Mobility toll conditions, which apply to the billing of the toll, are contained in the General Terms and Conditions. If you do not have the current General Terms and Conditions, you can request them from your DKV Mobility contact person. As soon as the registration has been completed, the installation date for the Toll Collect OBU can be arranged in the authorised workshops.

To re-register vehicles, please use the "Vehicle Registration Online" on the Toll Collect website or the "Vehicle Registration" form, which you will only receive directly from Toll Collect on request.
