General
The billing and coordination of tolls often pose a major challenge. Each country has its own systems, fees, and billing options. The introduction of EETS is intended to address these challenges. EETS stands for "European Electronic Toll Service," which aims to make it easier for road users to pay tolls while traveling through Europe by requiring only one device and one contract partner.
As a DKV Mobility customer, you no longer need to worry about tolls—we take care of that for you!
Toll roads vary from country to country. Here you will find all the information you need about tolls in each country. More information about tolls
Depending on the country, payment is made when passing through a toll station, by vignette, or via a toll box through a service provider. DKV Mobility offers you the right solution for every country, including convenient billing. Contact us and we will advise you on the right solution for you.

Installation and settings
Position the box so that your view is not obstructed while driving. Avoid placing it near moving parts of the vehicle (e.g., airbag covers). The OBU must be visible from the outside and must not be covered by other parts (e.g., windshield wipers that are switched off). For metallized windshields, use non-metallized areas. With "plug-and-play," simply connect the cable to the power supply and you're ready to go. Alternatively, the box can also be permanently connected to the vehicle's power supply by a repair shop.
If the LED on the toll box is green, all booked toll services are active and the box is ready for use.
What do the LED colors mean?
Green LED: The toll box is ready to pay tolls. You may drive.
Yellow LED: The toll box is not personalized, or the toll service for the current location of the vehicle has not (yet) been booked/activated, or there is no toll system in this area (e.g., Netherlands), or the local toll service is not available on the toll box.
Red LED: The toll box is not operational, toll collection is not taking place, do not drive. Contact your DKV contact person.
Exception: The toll box turns red after 30 minutes without GPS reception. If you are in a tunnel or a garage, for example, drive to a location with GPS reception.
LED off: Sleep mode: The toll box goes into sleep mode after 30 minutes of inactivity and wakes up again when movement is detected or when the power is connected.
The toll data is transmitted via hybrid radio technologies (GNSS/DSRC/Bluetooth) for toll collection from vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of > 3.5 t. When you place your first order, the vehicle data and booked toll services are automatically stored on the toll box. Toll services can be added and debited OTA (over-the-air). The axle declaration can be set manually on the toll box display.
The following information appears in the toll box menu: toll service booked, number of axles, license plate number, emission class, weight, power supply, and reception.
Belgium: BEvia
Bulgaria: BGria
Germany: DEbag
France: FRtis
Italy: ITsit
Austria: ATasf
Poland: PLeto
Portugal: PTvve

It may happen that some toll box parameters need to be changed by the driver while driving. The driver can change the following parameters on the box: language, number of axles, trailer, current weight, cost center.
The number of axles and the vehicle’s maximum permissible weight must be specified by the driver depending on the trailer used and the respective EETS area, and must be adjusted each time the vehicle combination changes.
Yes, the battery in the toll box must be removed. The toll box must be permanently installed in the vehicle.
Toll box with 4G technology
Several European countries have announced the shutdown of 2G mobile networks. For example, Switzerland is introducing a new 4G-based toll system for heavy commercial vehicles over 3.5 tonnes starting in 2026. Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Norway have also announced plans to discontinue their 2G-based toll services by the end of the decade. The next generation of the DKV Box Europe is expected to complement the EETS offering (European Electronic Toll Service) from Q1 2026.
No. The DKV Box Europe operates completely autonomously. All settings can be made directly on the device – without a smartphone or additional app.
Quick and easy: The new 4G box is designed as a plug-and-play solution. Simply replace your existing 2G box, continue using the existing cabling, and the new box is ready to use.
Optimized battery warnings provide timely information about low charge levels. Confirmation by the driver ensures that the box continues to function properly.
Yes. Thanks to over-the-air technology, the DKV Box Europe is regularly updated with new features and software updates—without having to visit a workshop.
