General information
Czech Republic
The CO2 toll in the Czech Republic applies to vehicles over 3.5 tonnes.
Buses are assigned to CO2 class 1 by default, except for electric or hydrogen buses, which are assigned to CO2 class 5.
Electric or hydrogen-powered vehicles over 4.25 tonnes are not affected by the toll for air or CO2, but pay the partial toll rate for infrastructure and noise.
Vehicles between 3.5 and 4.25 tonnes must be registered at a contact point with an "OBU exemption" (unfortunately DKV Mobility cannot carry out this registration for you in the FCI portal of Czechtoll).
For vehicles with a CO2 class better than 1, you can upload the registration certificate part 1 and the certificate of conformity (COC) in the DKV Cockpit .
If you have already done this for Austria and/or Germany or your vehicle was first registered before 1 July 2019, it is not necessary to upload it again. The date of first registration can be found on the vehicle registration document in field B. In this case, it is also not necessary to submit a new authorisation.
The processing time on the part of Czechtoll is 5 working days from transmission by DKV Mobiliy, for complaints 1-2 working days.
As a Pre-Pay customer, you have three options for registering your CO2 class in the Czech Republic:
- Send your proofs by e-mail to Czechtoll(info@mytocz.eu) and you will receive a reply by e-mail.
- Log in via Czechtoll's Customer Self Care Portal (this is Czechtoll's preferred option: https://mytocz.eu/selfcare/logon/) .
- Register via local contact and distribution centres(https://mytocz.eu/de/customer-points/list) , but please note that there may be language problems. You will receive a confirmation of your CO2 class on site.
The vehicles were exempt from the tax until 01.03.2024. From now on, only vehicles under 4.25 tonnes that use only electricity or hydrogen as fuel will be exempt from the toll.
Electric and H2O vehicles over 4.25 tonnes must pay charges for infrastructure and noise emissions, but not the surcharge for pollutant/CO2 emissions.
Guideline for trucks
The free-of-charge Premid-Box is available on payment of a deposit in the equivalent amount of 54 Euro to the Czech toll operator.

Payment
Pre-pay procedure
When passing the toll stations the toll is electronically debited via the Premid-Box, which was pre-loaded with credit at one of the Premid-Box distribution points
Post-pay procedure
The fully electronic toll network records the kilometres actually covered. Toll charges are settled afterwards, simply and conveniently, via the Premid-Box so there is no need to constantly load credit. This procedure is especially suitable for frequent drivers.
The deposit is settled in the following DKV invoice, and will be reimbursed when the OBU has been properly returned.
