DKV Mobility builds Tech Hub in Porto: new data & AI competence centre to accelerate innovation and growth
component-class__career-news-container-text
DKV Mobility, a leading platform for international mobility services, is building a new Tech Hub in Porto, Portugal. The site is intended to secure access to a wider pool of data & AI experts and to accelerate the company-wide development of data-driven digital products and services across refuelling, charging and fleet management. As part of a large-scale tech initiative, the company plans to hire several hundred IT engineers across Europe in the coming years.
The mobility market is changing rapidly: electrification is advancing, fleets are becoming more mixed, and fleet operators expect integrated, digital solutions from their partners rather than individual products. The targeted use of data and artificial intelligence across the entire customer value chain is increasingly decisive for success. The new Tech Hub in Porto strengthens DKV Mobility's ability to meet these expectations and to turn innovations into market-ready offerings more quickly – and thereby to make full use of the enormous growth potential in areas such as e-mobility.
Sebastian Klauke, CEO of DKV Mobility, says: "We are actively shaping the transformation of the mobility market with digital solutions tailored to the needs of our customers. To do that, we need technological strength and the ability to translate data into real added value. The Tech Hub in Porto is an important part of speeding up development and delivery."
Porto is one of Europe's most dynamic technology locations. The city offers renowned universities, a growing tech community and an environment in which numerous international technology companies are already present. The decisive factor for DKV Mobility was that Porto offers the data & AI profiles it needs, in both the range and the quality required.
During the build-up phase, DKV Mobility will initially work with a service partner. This will allow the first specialists to be hired as early as summer 2026. Around 50 positions are planned by the end of 2026, and by the end of 2027 the team is set to grow to roughly 150 people and transfer fully into the DKV Mobility organization.
Jesper Erichsen, Chief Technology & Operating Officer at DKV Mobility, adds: "The competition for the best minds in data & AI can be felt right across Europe. Porto convinced us because a vibrant tech community has emerged there with exactly the expertise we are looking for. We are not building an isolated satellite team there, but a genuine competence centre that works closely with our teams in Ratingen and Bucharest to develop better products for our customers together."
The Tech Hub will be run as an integral part of DKV Mobility and is embedded in shared development processes from the outset. Porto complements the existing technology sites in Ratingen and Bucharest, there are no plans to relocate positions from the existing sites to Porto. On the contrary: DKV Mobility will continue to invest in its existing sites through further hiring, training and development opportunities.
