Sustainability Report 2024: DKV Mobility expands its range of alternative energy sources and drives the mobility transition

DKV Mobility, a leading platform for international mobility services, has released its Sustainability Report for 2024. The report includes all relevant metrics and documents DKV Mobility's performance in the areas of environment, social responsibility, and corporate governance. Over the past year, the mobility service provider has made significant progress in expanding its charging network, further developing its climate targets, and engaging in social responsibility initiatives – and has once again been recognized by leading ESG rating agencies for these efforts.
By the end of 2024, DKV Mobility enabled access to approximately 893,000 EV charge points across Europe – an increase of around 41 percent compared to the previous year. At the same time, the demand for EV charge cards grew rapidly, with over 798,000 cards in circulation, an increase of around 35 percent versus 2023. For the total charging volume of the DKV Card +Charge in 2024 and 2025, DKV Mobility has acquired renewable electricity certificates. This guarantees that every kilowatt-hour charged via the DKV Card +Charge comes from 100 percent renewable energy sources. The use of alternative fuels also continued to grow: compared to 2023, DKV Mobility recorded an increase of around 17 percent in the use of alternative fuels such as LNG, CNG, and hydrogen. To meet this growing demand, DKV Mobility expanded its network of fuel service stations for alternative fuels by 13 percent to around 24,000 stations. By the end of the year, DKV Mobility also offered access to one of the largest networks for the sustainable diesel alternative HVO100 (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) in Europe, with over 2,600 stations in 15 countries.
Sebastian Klauke, CEO of DKV Mobility, says: "I am very pleased that we were able to further strengthen our leading role in the transition to alternative energy sources last year. The high demand encourages us to consistently expand our offering for electric vehicles and alternative fuels."
With the adoption of new climate targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), the company has achieved another important milestone in its sustainability strategy: DKV Mobility has committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across the entire value chain by 2050. As part of the company's ongoing commitment to reaching the net-zero target by 2050, DKV Mobility has set short-term targets and aims to reduce its emissions by 42 percent by 2030 from a 2022 base year. In 2024, the company was already able to increase the share of renewable energy across all entities from 54 percent in 2023 to 59 percent. In addition, through a green electricity share of approximately 99.9 percent, the company managed to decrease the electricity- and heating-related GHG emissions (Scope 1 and 2) by more than 30 percent in 2024 versus 2023.
Laura Cremer-Heesen, Director Sustainability at DKV Mobility, comments: “We are very proud that our new, ambitious climate targets have been confirmed by the high standards of the Science Based Targets initiative. This shows us that we are on the right track with our sustainability strategy and that our decarbonization measures are contributing to a greater collective effort.”
DKV Mobility has also further advanced its sustainability strategy in the areas of promoting gender diversity and corporate citizenship. In 2024, women made up almost half of the workforce, and around 38 percent of leadership positions were held by women. To support non-profit organizations, DKV Mobility has issued over 3,100 NGO Cards +Charge (service cards without card fees) to more than 300 charitable organizations. At the third yearly Community Day, over 450 employees in eight cities supported 33 projects that positively impacted around 2,500 people in local communities.
In 2024, DKV Mobility once again received top scores from leading ESG rating agencies EcoVadis and Sustainalytics for its sustainability management: In the EcoVadis rating, DKV Mobility further improved its score compared to the previous year and was again awarded a platinum medal – placing the company among the top 1 percent of more than 150,000 evaluated companies. The ESG rating agency Sustainalytics also confirmed the strong sustainability management of the mobility service provider and ranked DKV Mobility in the top 3 percent of more than 15,000 evaluated companies worldwide. In 2024, DKV Mobility also participated in the CDP (formerly "Carbon Disclosure Project") rating for the first time and immediately achieved a "B" score for its climate protection measures. This rating certifies that DKV Mobility takes into account the environmental impact of its business activities and ensures good climate management practices.
DKV Mobility's sustainability reporting is based on the standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC). DKV Mobility's sustainability report was again independently audited prior to publication. To reflect the increasing internationalization of the company, the sustainability report is available in English only for the first time this year.
